roo end

I have this really nasty habit of ruining things for people. Of course, it’s not something as minor as telling people the spoilers for a movie, or ruining a joke that somebody presented so carefully. That’s a daily task for me, they’re not going to greatly impact someone’s way of thoughts in the long run.

When I mean “ruining” things, I mean it in the way that it will tear your mind up for many years to come, whether they be knowledgeable facts or complete head trips of fantasy conjured up by yours truly.

Take scenario 1… using facts to ruin someone’s life. It’s as simple as drinking orange juice…that is, their “fresh” orange juice that smells really nice, but is quite tasteless may well be like that because of the mouldy oranges that were dumped into the juicing machine.

“what mould…?”

“you know, blue green mould, Penicillium, the shit in gorgonzola cheese and antibiotics… the stuff that some people are allergic to?”

“….that’s just disgusting, I will never drink fresh orange juice again.”

“but you like cheese don’t you?”

“Not whatever the hell you said… what’s gorgonmedusa cheese?”

“It’s gorgonzola cheese, a type of blue cheese. Like your favourite type of cheese, brie, it’s made with mould.”

“Brie cheese is made with what?!”

“The same genus of mould… Penicillium”
“EW… gross, I’m never going to eat Brie cheese again… does that mean I’m going to die?”

“……………yes, because it will make your stomach mouldy, and Penicillium will grow along your veins and arteries.”
*person’s brain is now in turmoil.

Scenario 2… flights of fantasy

“Lain, do spiders grow to be human size?”
“yeah, that’s how we got Spiderman.”

Scenario 3…. Killing the dreams of a fan

“You know how Hayao Miyazaki once said that the idea of Totoro was like a reflection of himself in his childhood. A gentle furry monster that was pure… then the Susuwatari (dust bunnies) must’ve been some really hairy testicles he saw in the mirror one day when puberty finished….”

suddenly they're not so cute and fluffy anymore...

It’s amazing how you can observe their brains ticking over in the next minute, you can actually see them withdrawing into their little world of thought because their eyes actually shifts its focus into some unknown realm that’s clearly not the one where you two are physically sharing at that moment in time. Once the vision becomes clear in their minds, you can see them bouncing back to reality with one definite answer for me,

“OMG EW~~~!!!”

Thanks for commenting on my pic!

I like the poses of the characters in your drawings. They look real and there is more of a variety than the usual 'just standing around' sort that I tend to draw.
